Needing to Prove

I find that many people including myself seem to want to prove things to the world. Some want to prove there worth, some want to prove that they are better than others, others want to prove that they are cool... and the list goes on as if life is a competition against every one else that needs to be won. Proving things can be used as a good motivator but has has one down fall that kills the self worth of many. If this is all we hold on to, when (not if) we fail we will fall into depressed state because we can not be what we have tried so hard to be. One of the lies we are told is that you can do anything if your really try. You might respond to say that the person should learn from his failures and try again, but the statement can be proven false by one counter example. Many people in the third world want a better life and try really hard but fall short. So then there is a limit to our abilities and a maximum line of what we can reach as humans.

There is a solution that we all should listen to. We shouldn't do things to prove to the people around us because we can never please people for long and for the most part they are just interested in there own lives anyway but we should do things for the one True God that has done all for us, the one who really cares for us. The response to the the lie is Philippians 4:12 "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me."
