Images of drugs cigarettes alcohole ... come to mind. Recently I've been wondering about addictions. What am I addicted to? When I was younger I had a friend who didn't know what the word addiction meant and after it was explained to him he said he was addicted to watermelon.
When looking my own life there are some thing that I don't really want but yet they are still there. For the drug addict his circumstances lead him to get his next high. To stop the cycle he has to make major life changes (mental and physical) to fix his addiction, and if we don't help him I doubt that he can ever get out of the cycle. Things I want to give up are; wasting time by watching TV and I want to spend less time doing nothing on the computer. The way that seems to work the best for me is to slowly change my life style to include other things. The easiest way to break free was not to try really hard to break free (that never seems to work in the long run) but to realize that I didn't want it anymore and then through a slow change of mind give it up.
Here's and interesting Quote that goes along with this article. It is from a FAQ off of http://www.humanclock.com/
"You have too much time on your hands! Why did you waste your time on this?
The same could be said for someone sitting though a generic Hollywood action movie or someone mindlessly flipping though TV channels complaining that there is "nothing on". It is just how I choose to spend my free time."
