Positive thinking

Sometimes I get caught up in thinking how many times I do not do what is right. How many times I forget about God. How many times I get caught up in life ....

Shouldn't we rather get caught up in how many times God worked in our lives. Each one is a miracle from God where he decided to touch our lives.

So let us rejoice for how God has provided for us
Let us praise him for including us in his plan

Identity?

What is our identity?
Is it internal or connected to the holy God?
Are we disconnected or connected to the holy God?

Where does our identity, power, purpose, life derive from?

Is taught to us from above?
Is it poured into us with purpose and passion?

Can we ignore God, and his calling?
He is always there to lead us.

The two way streets of relationships are so often forgotten. When ever we discover something about our self, or reach a new depth in God's calling, who had that moment prepared? Who knew how to ready it?

When will we know/discover God's complete plan for us? When will we know our identity passed on to us from him?

"I want you to get out there and walk -- better yet, run! - on the road Goad call you to travel. " Ephesians 4 (The Message)

I wonder how many times we get a distourted view of the road God calls us to? How many times do we do God's will even when we think we are not?

God teach us to listen to you.
God speak to us and teach us you ways
God pour into us your life giving spirit.
God help us feel your love

God First

Not sure why I like C. S. Lewis so much. God seems to speak to me through his writing.

Lately I am re-read The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis and what hit me the most is how Satan wants us to believe lies but also hide the lies we believe. We then find ourselves doing things we don't want to and have no idea why.

This comes out in a variety of ways this can happen here are some examples.

You can find in some of my previous blogs how I tried to be a better person by working harder at it. It was because deep down I believed the lie that I could fix myself.

"He said to another man, “Follow me.”

But the man replied, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.”

Jesus said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God.”

Still another said, “I will follow you, Lord; but first let me go back and say good bye to my family.”

Jesus replied, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.”"

It's not that any of these things are bad .... or good. It's whether the things in life leads us to the creator of the world (good) or leads us farther away (evil).

So my challenge to us is to find the lies that Satan has gotton us to believe and rip them out and turn it into God's truth.

God help us find the lies we believe
God help us change them into your truth
God help us see with clarity
God help us reach into your depths
God help us with our daily needs
God send your presence to us

Disc

So I was introduced to a new personality test. I appears to be the best one yet.

Disc appears to hit the nail on the nose.

It splits people into two different scales.
We are somewhere on the scale of task orientated or people orientated.
We are somewhere on the scale of extravert or intravert.

You combine these scales into a x-y plot and you find that there is 4 quadrants or 4 personality types.

The first type is the task orientated extravert which they label as the Dominant
The second type is the people orientated extravert which they label as the Influence
The third type is the people orientated introvert which they label as the Steady
The forth type is the task orientated which they label as the Cautious

Of course no person is the same so everyone will have a mix of the above but will have one dominant personality type.

What I found most interesting is the each person has a fundamental question that they ask.
The Dominant asks What?
The Influencer asks Who?
The Steady asks When, How?
The Cautious asks Why?

This tool is not to say anyone type is better but I find it useful to understand where other people are coming from.

Anyways take a look around the Web for the Disc personality type. I like it.

Extra-ordinary people

What if?

What if people would lay down everything?
Lay down everything as a sacrifice to God?

What if we could give up our dreams?

And trying to accomplish them by our self

What if we could give up our darkest corners of our lives? Our sin?

I've really like what our pastor has been talking about over the past few weeks. He has preach a few weeks on the ideas of. Life from God, Life over God, Life for God, Life under God, and Life with God. He has been talking about how we relate to God (or don't relate).


I recommend you research those topics as I found some interesting stuff on the web. The basic idea is that a God that is all power full, all knowing, ever present designed us to follow him, and have a relationship with him.

He used a good analogy today and it was in response to a question he was asked. How can you have peace in death. Image you have in front of you flash cards with everything that is important to you. Memories, things, people, culture ... etc. and one by one they get taken away. Ie. you lose memories .. things ... people. What will you have left when you die ("ashes to ashes") ?


Turns out you only have what should be your hope, trust, companion God. He is everlasting by definition God.
